Safely in our Father’s ring

Day after day, I have been learning to wait and to trust in God’s plans. Knowing that He takes care of me makes my soul feel safer and peaceful.

Knowing our God and trusting in Him, as He is powerful and He is the history maker and not a viewer of the human’s exploits, makes all difference in our lives. So if we live like this, we won’t need to be afraid about the unknowing, the sudden and keeps us away from having anguish thoughts that we are leaving by our own. After all, we are safe on God’s hands because he is Love, He is god and He has good plans about us.

But most of the time we are so busy trying to solve our problems by ourselves that we don’t even pay attention in what God has been exempting us from all the time in our lives. I’m the kind of person that gets overwhelming when something happens differently of I planned about. I get angry when I feel like things are not running like they should be. I don’t know if you feel like I feel. (Because it’s so hard to had the feeling that I’m losing control).

I’ve been learning, despite I make my own plans – and I’m not talking about the plans from my own credit, mas those I know that came from God – that only God has all the answers. God is bigger and better of everything I could imagine, He is the one that hass all the control over all situations.

Just to figure out what I’m talking about, I want to share about my last travel to Peru. I went to Peru with Rafael, a friend from church. We were already coming back from Cuzco, where we spent two days visiting the Inca storage places and the Inca sacred city, Machupicho.

This trip was a huge adventure, full with surprises, because on this trip many sudden situations happen like losing the flight from Lima to Cuzco, then losing the train from Machupicho to Cuzco, later loosing the bus in São Paulo’s airport.

We were there just to carry through a purpose that God placed in our hearts onde year ago of making a Trial Generation’s meeting, about praying and spirituality. The meeting didn’t happen, but we had the opportunity to be there “spreading salt” in the watter source to cure that place.

We understand that those cities have a mystical and spiritual influence, and because of that our prayer was a predictive act for our generation. At last, our visit to this country aimed to pray and to record some messages about praying. So this happened.

On our way back we had one more challenge in our transportation. Our flight ticket back to Lima, from Cuzco, was mistake and strangely pointed: we had to make a scale on Arequipa city and wait for another flight to Lima, what would make our trip four hours longer.

What surprised us even more was that the flight to Arequipa would keep going until Lima, which means that we would leave the airplane that was going to the place we were going, but we had to change for another airplane. Just thinking about this illogical flights I would get sick.

This changing of airplanes didn’t make any sense. However, on this moment of the trip, God started His teaching to our lives, which later we would see what He was exempting us from. But our way of thinking stoped us from seeing God’s hands leading us safely.

Just after dinner, we decide to go to the departure room. For our own surprise, one more time, there was a flight leaving in 15 minutes, which means that we left a flight that was going to the place we wanted to go and found another flight earlier than we were expecting. The attendant placed us on this flight.

When we arrived to Lima, we saw police, cops, firemen, the airport was empty, and everybody was outside, in the parking. Inside there were only a few people who were arriving from another flights.

On that moment I thought about terrorism, but in a few minutes we found out that there was an earthquake all over the country. We saw everything fallen on the floor, the roofs fell down, plates all over the ground.

For a moment we had a little movie in my mind, remembering about everything that had happened until that: our flight tickets, that illogical scale and changing of airplanes, the plane that was going straight to Lima and we were going to change to another airplane, then the surprise of finding another flight earlier than the ours… On this time everything became clear, that God was saving and leading us all the time. An understanding that we were not able to figure out before.

If we had came from Cuzco right to Lima, we would be on ground when the earthquake happened. If we had taken the flight we were expecting, we would be in Arequipa city when the earthquake happened and we would lose the flight back to Brazil because all the flights were canceled after the earthquake.

All that mess we’ve passed through had the purpose of keeping us safe in our God’s wings: we were flying exactly in the moment that the earthquake happened.

God takes care of us all the time! There maybe will be sometimes that He protects us from earthquakes, other times He protects us in an earthquake moment. Whatever it is the time He protect us, I’m sure about something: what God has for us is good, because He always has plans of good for us.

This time, He protected us from the earthquake, another time He can protect us from something else. But I rest my soul in peace on Him. And I’ve being learning, in each challenge in my life, to surrender myself, without fear, to my Father’s plans.

“…but as it is written, Things which eye saw not, and ear heard not, And [which] entered not into the heart of man, Whatsoever things God prepared for them that love him.”

I Cor 2:9
